Subtle but not silent - don't ignore the symptoms1

Why do I have valve disease?

There is no one cause, but several factors can increase your risk of Heart Valve Disease:

Chronic kidney disease

Involves a gradual loss of kidney function

Heart conditions since birth

Congenital heart disease

High blood pressure

High blood pressure, high cholestrol, and/or diabetes

Personal history of heart conditions

Personal history of heart conditions

Previous heart conditions increases risk.
